1. Henderson Beach State Park
Protected dunes, a long boardwalk, picnic shelters, and beaches noticeably wider than the average Destin stretch. $6 per car and worth it.
2. James Lee Park
Public access with parking and restrooms; capacity and crowds vary by day and season. The Crab Trap restaurant sits beside the beach.

3. Crystal Beach
Residential blocks lead to a series of deeded accesses — quieter than the public parks, easy to walk to from rentals.
4. Norriego Point
At the harbor entrance, where conditions and boat traffic can change quickly. The City currently reports the parking lot closed for ongoing work and restrooms/showers unavailable; check the latest city notice before planning a visit. Do not assume calm water.
What to Bring
- Beach cart — sand is soft, parking can be 100+ yards away
- Umbrella or canopy in summer (the sand reflects, intense)
- Reef-safe sunscreen
- Cash for the rare metered lot
